The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force have arrested three people suspected of robbing 20-thousand dollars cash from a shop at Kukum in Honiara recently.

Acting Police Commissioner Juanita Matanga confirms the first suspect was a 20-year-old and the second a 40-year-old while the third was a 17 year old juvenile.

Speaking to local media in her weekly media conference today Mrs Matanga says this happens as the suspects attacked the shop owners and robbed the amount of money after illegally entering the shop.

“Police have arrested three suspects in relations to this robbery and have alleged that the suspects involved in the robbery, one is 20 years of age and one is in his 40’s and another is a juvenile, 17 years. They went into the Kukum Supreme shop, straight to the cashier. One of the accused attacked the cashier with a bush knife injuring him in the head as well as his left and right wrist and his neck before they took off with the cash box, which was estimated to contain 12-thousand dollars.”

Meanwhile, Commissioner Matanga calls on all church, community leaders and family members to work together to address such issues in the country.

“And I want to call on our community leaders, church leaders, youth leaders, women, families and elders to seriously consider such cases.”

SIBC News understands the robbery incident happened last month.
