A four days media training is currently underway in Honiara.

Organised by The Nature Conservancy, TNC, for its working partners, the training aims to create a better working relationship between its partners and the media.

TNC Communications Advisor, Ken Luis said one of the organisation’s tasks was to help working partners better understand the important role the media play.

He says the training involves basic information about the media and how it operates.

“Basically, going through what the media is, how it operates, so my background as a print journalist, talking to them about how a newspaper works, how radio stations work, how those organisations collect news and what sort of things they are looking for in a news story, so I keep them to consider those while they put together press releases and put together contents for Web sites and also newsletters”.

The Communications Advisor adds it is important to help people communicate their programs in a better and more effectively way.
