Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele hosted the first official reception at the Heritage Park Hotel in Honiara on Thursday evening.

In his remarks, Prime Minister Manele thanked everyone for attending, expressing his delight at their presence.

He acknowledged the privilege and honor of being trusted to lead the Government for National Unity and Transformation (GNUT).

“I must admit that it is a privilege and honor to be trusted to lead the Government for National Unity and Transformation”.

“I am equally conscious of the weight that is upon my shoulders and that of my cabinet ministers. However, the government is confident in moving the country forward. We extend our hands of friendship as we embark on our journey together,” Prime Minister Manele stressed.

He highlighted the prompt actions taken by his government, including the appointment of all cabinet ministers and the first formal caucus and cabinet sessions held on Tuesday and Thursday, May 16, respectively.

“We hit the ground running with the appointment of all cabinet ministers and the first formal caucus session on Tuesday and first formal cabinet session today (Thursday, 16 May).

“The most important priority for GNUT is economic transformation. We will work with all stakeholders in addressing this priority,” he said.

Prime Minister Manele also reaffirmed the country’s policy of ‘friends to all, enemy to none’.

“Let me be very clear, our engagement with all our development partners will be premised on our long-standing policy of ‘friends to all and enemy to none”.

“ There should not be any space for confrontation; we must seek peace and prosperity so that we can focus our resources and efforts on our development aspirations.”

Attendees last night included the Hon. Speaker of Parliament Patteson Oti, Chief Justice Albert Palmer, Members of Parliament, members of the Diplomatic Corps, heads of state-owned enterprises, the private sector, and others.
