A woman has been discharged after witnesses to her trial failed to turn up in Court yesterday.

Principal Magistrate Edwin Suramo discharged Linda Agooka after the two prosecution witnesses who were to testify at her trial yesterday did not turn up in Court.

This is the second time the trial has been vacated because the witnesses were not available.

The police prosecution will recharge the accused again when the witnesses are ready for the trial to proceed.

Linda Agooka was the Chairperson of the FOPA Evacuation centre’s internal committee and she was charged with obstructing and refusing to cooperate with Government disaster officials.

She was charged under the National Disaster Council Act for refusing to cooperate with Government officials during a state of emergency.

It was alleged that after the floods in April last year, she prevented and chased the officers away from the FOPA Evacuation centre at Panatina when they went there to carry out their duties including the repatriation of the victims.
