WORLD BLOOD DONOR DAY COMMEMORATED
The Ministry of Health and Medical Services has today commemorated the World Blood Donor Day in Honiara.
This year’s theme is “Thank you for saving my life” and focuses on thanking blood donors who save lives every day through their blood donations.
Speaking today, the Director of National Medical Laboratory Alfred Dofai said blood transition is an important part of the country’s health delivery system and life-saving intervention.
“Blood transfusion is a vital part of Solomon Islands healthcare system. It is a life-saving intervention.”
The National Medical Laboratory Director also said the Ministry of Health and Medical Services will fully ensure blood supplies are safe and readily available in Solomon Islands.
The event is observed by countries around the world annually in June.
