School students across the country are encouraged to participate in the Solomon Islands 2023 Pacific Games Logo and Mascot design competition.

The $10,000 worth competition for primary and secondary students was launched by the Solomon Islands 2023 Pacific Games Committee last week.

Secretary to the Prime Minister and Chair of the Pacific Games Organizing Committee, Dr. Jimmy Rodgers formally announced the competition.

“Right at the beginning towards our journey for 2023. For those of you out there the message here we want to invite you to be part of this journey.

“You students in the Solomon, our youth, at this time we want to say that the future of our county is in your hands. We would like you to contribute to the logo that will represent our country at Pacific Games 2023.

“We want you to look at what will be our Mascot, our special identity.”

The winners of the Logo and Mascot Competition including its launch are set for early June before the 2019 Pacific Games in Samoa.

” The logo will be for the whole Games. The intention is to launch it and then by mid April, the process to select the winning designs will come in and we are hoping that we will finalize the selection process for the logo that will represent our country .

“When Team Solomon is announced, i think on the 3rd of June we will also launch the logo. And at the same time we will launch the Mascot. The Mascot is our special sign.”

The criterion of the competition includes an original idea from current student designers, and will accept only one entry per school.
