The Solomon islands Bilikiki Beach soccer team are edging closer to the world cup after defeating fellow Melanesians Vanuatu by 4-2 in Papeete, Tahiti today.

Roy Mafane opened the score-sheets today in the first period adding his second in the tournament , Kiven Koipala then doubled their lead later .

Vanuatu pulled one back two minutes later but Max Fa’ari scored the Bilikiki’s third to restore their two goal cushion.

Vanuatu again scored through Ivong Wilson to close the gap on Solomon Islands but Max McPhillip Aisa added the final blow on the game, scoring with just twenty five seconds left on the clock.

The Bilikiki boys will now face Tonga next and a crucial deciding match against hosts Tahiti to confirm their place in the FIFA Beach soccer world cup in Paraguay later this year.
