BRING DEVELOPMENT TO US: REMOTE SHORTLANDS COMMUNITY
An elderly woman of KomaliaiĀ in the Shortlands Islands has called on the National Government to break its negligence of very remote and isolated communities by bringing developments closer to them.
Veronica Taburunei told an SIBC touring team in Komaliai, her people face so much challenge trying to cope with life in the face of their remoteness.
“My concern here is that I would sympathise with our communities here because we have found it so difficult especially in having access to basic services like health, shipping, for instance, women can find it difficult when giving birth, getting the sick to the nearest hospital and I think we have been neglected.”
