Central Islands Province is a sleeping tourism monster capable of overtaking Western Province, the country’s current tourism hub if developed.

Michael Tokuru of Green Tourism says four tourism sites on Rodrick Bay have been identified as best tourism spots because of their natural settings and proximity to the capital city.

“They have the sandy beaches, nice snorkeling and dive sites, camp waters in the lagoons. In a very short time they can become the new tourism destination of the Solomon Islands. Currently, they said Gizo is the country’s tourist destination, but if these places close to Honiara, with all the natural scenes and all nature-based as well as historic sites, especially Tulagi if you want to extend to, they have all that.”

He says, Green Tourism is working on including these spectacular sites on a holiday tour package for future tourists.
