CHIEFS SAY LAND SYSTEM IS BARRIER TO LAND DEVELOPMENT
The Malaita Traditional Governing House of Chief says the country’s land system is a barrier to land development in the country.
The Council is referring to the recent call made by the Prime Minister for landowning tribes to allow their land for developments.
Vice President Rocky Eisah says the country’s Land and Title Act has made it difficult for landowners to release their lands for developments.
He says, practising the customary land record Act 1994 will make it much easier for resource owners to allow their lands.
Meanwhile, the Council’s Vice President says, the Democratic Coalition for Change Government should formalise current land system so developments can be boosted.
