CHOISEUL CHIEFS TO VANUATU TO LEARN CHIEFLY STRUCTURE

A delegation from the Choiseul Province Lauru Tribal Land Conference has left the country for Vanuatu to learn about the country’s chiefly structure.

The delegation, which left yesterday, is headed by the Province’s Minister for Lauru Affairs Jacob Sogavare and their Deputy Director for Peace, Wilson Kutini.

Meanwhile, the Vanuatu-bound delegation of tribal chiefs met with Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare yesterday.

A government statement today said the chiefly delegation showed their gesture of appreciation for the DCC Government’s assistance towards their Vanuatu trip this Saturday.

This includes their appreciation for the re-empowerment of traditional chiefs and revival of traditional cultures in Choiseul Province.

Chief Cornelius Joi yesterday thanked the Prime Minister for the assistance saying it will ensure lost Lauru traditional cultures are revived.

In response, Prime Minister Sogavare reassured Chief Cornelius Joi and his delegation of his commitment to revive Lauruan heritage which he has always been very proud of.

The Prime Minister also said traditional customs are important as they make us what we are.

The Choiseul delegation to Vanuatu is representing the Lauru Tribal Land Conference.
