DCC GOV’T TO BENEFIT FROM EU’s ASSISTANCE IN FINANCE MANAGEMENT

The Democratic Coalition for Change Government (DCCG) will benefit from the European Union assistance to improve its capacity to manage its finances.

Office of the Prime Minister’s Media Secretary reports, EU Ambassador to Solomon Islands, Leonidas Tezapsidis affirms this while paying a courtesy call to Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare recently.

It says Ambassador Tezapsidis says the EU wishes to assist  and improve the capacity to manage government finances to support important areas such as Water, Sanitation and Hygiene and Rural Development.

Mr Tezapsidis says Solomon Islands continues to be an important partner to EU as this is evidence in the 2014 upgrade of the diplomatic office to a fully-fledged mission, covering Vanuatu.

Meanwhile, the Ambassador assures the DCC Government, his office has the experience to help the Solomon Islands and regional institutions like the Pacific Islands Forum and Melanesian Spearhead Group in terms of auditing and improvement of legislation for better management of finances.
