Insufficient funding from the Government has stalled the distribution of relief assistance to communities affected by recent heavy rain and floods in the country.

National Disaster Management Office Principal Operations Officer Hotoravu Alenge said relief supplies that were supposed to be distributed last month have not yet reached flood victims.

But Mr Alenge said NDMO staff are optimistic that the supplies will be dispensed soon.

“Hopefully we are looking at the end of this week or next week to distribute,” he said. “It depends entirely on the cash flow of the Government.”
