The Good Samaritan Hospital in North Guadalcanal is experiencing a shortage of professional nurses, due to a lack of staff accommodation.

SIBC’s stringer for North Guadalcanal Dudley Gani reports, medical officers have shown interest to work for the hospital, but cannot be deployed due to accommodation shortages.

Nurse Manager Naomi Vouza told Gani, the shortage of nurses is affecting the quality of medical services for North Guadalcanal people.

“Ms Vouza said this is affecting the quality of service provided by the Good Samaritan Hospital to communities in the area, as it is providing a dual service of hospital service and primary healthcare service, in which they are running outpatient department and usually visit villages with special programs.”

Gani also reports, the hospital currently has only 20 Registered Nurses and one Doctor but this is not enough to deliver proper medical services for North Guadalcanal.
