The Principal of Bethsaida Rural Training Center, Gideon Rou is calling on the National Government to be realistic on its policy framework in considering the participation of people with special needs.

SIBC stringer Gabriel Riotarau reported Mr. Rou as noting, there is no specific policy for people with special needs in the national policy framework particularly in sports.

He says events such as inclusive sports are important to them as they are an opportunity to enjoy and showcase their ability to participate in community activities just like any other able bodied person.

“He emphasised that inclusive sports is an opportunity for people with special needs to come together to have fun and enjoy themselves. Also to showcase their abilities beyond the degree of challenge that each individual might have, brings unity, hope and more insight to them as any ordinary person would enjoy in the world.”

The Principal appeals on the responsible government authorities to link up with their organisations to understand their needs.
