The National Government has invited all eligible consultant services to send their submissions to undertake an aquatic baseline survey to surrounding rivers connected to Metapona River System in Central Guadalcanal.

Ministry of Environment, Climate Change Disaster Management and Meteorology said in a government statement today this initiative is stipulated under the Gold Ridge Mining Tailings Storage Facility Monitoring Project.

The details of the survey include undertaking an aquatic baseline survey for water, sediment quality and ecology of the connected rivers.

The survey expects to be implemented prior to any de-watering exercise of the Gold Ridge Tailings Storage Facility Dam.

Meanwhile, the ministry advises interested consultants to clearly indicate their interests and qualifications in providing the services.
