Solomon Islanders have been challenged to make a commitment to end discrimination and violence against women.

Minister of Women’s children and Family affairs, Hon. Freda Rotutafi made the call during the celebrations of international women’s day, today.

Mrs. Rotutafi said the challenge before hand is the COVID-19 situation in the country as well as women’s economic empowerment in nation building.

“I challenge you all to choose to challenge discrimination against women and girls.”

The day was marked today with a street parade from the Honiara city council grounds to the National museum grounds where it was celebrated.

The 2021 IWD theme is: “WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP. ACHIEVING AN EQUAL FUTURE IN A COVID-19 WORLD. #choose_to_Challenge.”
