ISABEL WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION STARTS APPEAL FOR DISASTER
The Isabel Women’s Association has set up a donation camp to assist Isabel families affected by last week’s flash floods.
An active member of the Association, Lensa Magiza says the camp opened yesterday in Honiara and the Association is planning to close the donation camp on Saturday.
Mrs Magiza says the Association received confirmation of about 12 Isabel families based in Honiara who lost everything during the floods.
“I think 12 bodies from Isabel province have been recovered here in Honira, five along the Matanikau river area and about seven in the White River area, and we are yet to receive reports from the CDC area.”
Mrs Magiza also says, the Isabel Women’s Association are hoping to receive information on any Isabel families living in the flood affected areas in Guadalcanal and are asking for families affected to come forward.
“We have yet to get information on the Isabel communities affected by the flash floods, so we ask our people who are affected by the disaster to come forward and share their experiences as well as their needs at the moment.”
SIBC News understands the Donation Camp is set up on the west of Niki’s Fast Food in Honiara.
