The low-pressure system located around Temotu and Vanuatu will likely develop into a tropical depression as it moves towards Vanuatu.

The Solomon Islands Meteorological Services confirms today.

Director of Meteorology, David Hiriasia says the low continues to move towards Vanuatu.

“So the updated situation now is that the two systems especially the one located around Temotu and Vanuatu areas continues to move down towards Vanuatu at the moment and looks like it will be a tropical cyclone but within the Vanuatu area.”

However, the Met Service Director adds associated bad weather will still affect Solomon Islands.

“But as I’ve always mentioned that even the system is located within the Vanuatu area, the line very unstable weather or trough will still continue to influence especially the rainfall and wind across the country, and looking at the satellite images for this morning it seems that clouds should cover most of the country.”

SIBC News understands the Met Service has started issuing Tropical Disturbance Watch Advice since yesterday.
