MAN QUESTIONED FOREIGN APPOINTMENTS TO SENIOR POSTS
A North Malaita man has questioned the appointment of foreigners to senior positions in state-owned enterprises and few government institutions in the country.
Jessy Bobbie questioned the appointments in light of the Solomon Islands Ports Authority (SIPA) controversy over its Chief Executive Officer Colin Yow.
He says these institutions belong to Solomon Islands and it is fitting Solomon Islanders should be appointed.
“These state-owned companies or businesses belong to Solomon Islanders and they should be the ones to take up these senior positions. Are there no qualified Solomon Islanders to take up these positions? What if a Solomon Islander took off with such huge amounts of money from the institutions, that would definitely be a prison sentence.”
Mr. Bobbie encouraged Solomon Islanders to consider this seriously as the country needs them to move forward.
