The Solomon Islands National Under-19 boys Tahiti have secured their semi-final spot in the 2018 OFC U-19 Championship with the hosts, Tahiti this afternoon.

The young lads sealed their place after beating Vanuatu one goal to nil in the final group B match.

The semi-final between Solomon Islands and Tahiti is set for Thursday this week.

Meanwhile, a local Physiotherapist specializing in sports medicine claims the team may be at risk in the hands of their Tahitian physiotherapist.

The medic who requested anonymity said the team management has engaged a physiotherapist from Tahiti, and this might potentially compromise the team’s fitness when they face Tahiti in the semi-final.

He said the tournament is a battle to defend each country’s flag and the Tahitian physio might support his country and use his expertise to create a weak spot for the Solomon team.

He urged the Solomon Islands Football Federation ‘SIFF’ against risking the fitness of young talented players in future regional and international tournaments.
