The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force is working on re-posting a police officer to the Mono Police post in the Shortland Islands, Western Province.

Police Commissioner, Matthew Varley told local reporters at his weekly media conference over the weekend.

The Police officer posted to Mono has left the post as a result of threats received from community members at Mono.

But Police Commissioner Matthew Varley said while the threats have been investigated, they are working on identifying an officer to be re-posted to Mono.

“We are working very hard to identify an officer to be re-posted back to Mono to fill the gap. At this stage that hasn’t occurred for a number of reasons including logistics ,and also some weather and transport challenges”, he said.

“But in the mean time I understand that our PPC in Western Province has been in discussions with community leaders and chiefs and we’re working on a solution to try and re-post an officer to Mono as soon as possible. In relation to the threats that were made to the officer and the family, a case has been established for investigation of that and that’s currently ongoing.”
