Four people have been awarded the Solomon Islands Medal (SIM) silver for their services to the country this year.

Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare announced the four recipients during the recent 38th Independence Anniversary celebrations on Honiara.

Solomon Islands Medal, SIM, Silver, Mr. Seth Selauru Luaboe for long and dedicated service to the Government and people of Solomon Islands and Community development; Mr. Victor John Waia for long and dedicated service to the Government and people of Solomon Islands in the field of Sports development; Mr Sotere Ria for long and dedicated service to the Government and people of Solomon Islands in the development of Health promotion in the community; Mr Samuel Kapina for long and dedicated service to the Government and people of Solomon Islands in Community development.”

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister also announced two recipients of the Solomon Islands Meritorious Medal, SMM, for this year.

“Solomon Islands Meritorious Medal, SMM, Mr Jatho Hiru for long and dedicated service to the Government and people of Solomon Islands in the field of Primary School Teaching and Community development; Ms. Lydia Yow for dedicated service and commitment to the Government and people of Solomon Islands in the fields of Education and Community development.”

SIBC News understands the awardees will receive their medals next year.
