The Prime Minister has announced big plans for health and communications, and foreign relations this year – including an independent national hospital.

Speaking at a prayer breakfast in Honiara yesterday, Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo announced an autonomous national hospital will be established.

He said his Government is confident the Hospital will be established, and the legal framework for its establishment must be done by May this year.

On communications, Mr. Lilo said the country’s first fibre optic, fastest Internet connection, will be established before the year ends.

On foreign relations, Mr. Lilo says Solomon Islands will continue to engage with its multi-lateral and bilateral partners.

“And on foreign relations, we will continue to engage with our multi-lateral and bilateral partners and we hope for the first time that a high-level meeting, at the ministerial level, between Solomon Islands and Australia will also take place this year”, said Mr. Lilo.
