Prime Minister Houenipwela arrives in Nauru for PIF meeting

PM Hou greeted upon arrival at the opening ceremony

Prime Minister Rick Houenipwela has arrived in Nauru over the weekend for the 49th Pacific Islands Forum, PIF, meeting.

A Government statement said most Pacific island Leaders have also arrived in Nauru over the weekend ahead of today’s official opening.

The PIF meeting should officially open with a flag raising ceremony at Nauru’s Government building.

The Small Island States Leaders Meeting and the Pacific ACP Leaders Meeting will commence after the official opening.

The statement said Prime Minister Hou will also participate in the official traditional welcome ceremony today evening.

He is also expected to join other Pacific Leaders for the Forum Dialogue Partners Session and the Private Sector Dialogue Session later in the week.

On Wednesday this week, Prime Minister Hou will meet all Forum Leaders to jointly address important matters being put to leaders for their consideration.

He is also expected to hold several bilateral meetings with Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Japan, Norway and other Forum partners.

The Prime Minister is also invited to a roundtable breakfast with the Secretary of Interior of the United States of America.
