Seven Non-Government Organizations, NGOs, church and government departments in Choiseul Province undertake a three days workshop to discuss gender discrimination as a result of inequalities in their communities.

The workshop is to identify ways to reduce gender inequality and discrimination by improving program activities of the NGOs and government departments.

Church participants Reverend Oliver Poloso says this will enable the church to share information learnt with congregations of equality and discrimination as similar to biblical concepts and teaching.

The workshop involves the discussion of human rights,non-discrimination, equality and changes they can make in the communities.

Meanwhile, Police officer Gloria Vanakomale says the workshop provides participants different types of discrimination and ways to counter it.

The workshop was funded by the European Union and facilitated by the Secretariat of the Pacific Community Regional Rights Resource Team in partnership with the Choiseul Province Women and Children’s Development Division to promote and combat gender equality in Solomon Islands.
