The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) warns the general public to celebrate this year’s independence day in a responsible manner.

Deputy Police Commissioner Juanita Matanga told SIBC News this afternoon, police will be on the looking out for anti-social behaviours during the celebrations both in Honiara and the provinces.

“…an occasion where all commemorate the statehood of Solomon Islands and this is where every Solomon Islanders must take responsibility to celebrate but with responsible behaviour so ask everybody particularly parents because at this time of the year schools are on holiday and that they would advise their children to celebrate this occasion responsibly.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Police Commissioner advises, Police will also carry out breathalyser tests and other traffic checks to ensure a safe independence celebration.
