R.S.I.P.F ACKNOWLEDGED GENERAL PUBLIC FOR PEACEFUL BEHAVIOUR
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has acknowledged the level of cooperation from the public for ensuring a peaceful Prime Minister’s election today.
Speaking in his weekly media conference this afternoon, Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast acknowledged the general public for their pleasant behaviour today.
Commissioner Prendergast says, the manner people behave towards the Prime Minister’s election sends a clear message about stability in Solomon Islands.
“I have to say the police are very happy with the cooperation that we receive from the general public, I think it is a very good day for the Solomon Islands again following on from the showing at the national election, but the way that people behave in how smooth it went send a real message about stability in the Solomon Islands, so we had asked prior to the election for people’s cooperation and we’re really very happy with the level of cooperation we receive so can I say to the general public, thank you.”
The Police Commissioner adds police will continue it’s high visibility operations over the next few days to maintain peace and security around the city.
“In that election we’ll be continuing our high visibility operations over the next few days to ensure that things remain peaceful but I think we have to give a big vote of thanks to the community for the way they’ve engaged in the election and the way they’ve engaged in the democratic process.”
