R.S.I.P.F RECEIVED HUGE SUPPORT FROM COMMUNITIES VISITED
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) says there has been overwhelming support from communities within the Northern and Eastern regions of Malaita Province over a visit to the regions by police.
Assistant Commissioner for National Operations David Diosi told SIBC News in an exclusive interview today, the level of support received from the communities visited has been overwhelmingly positive.
He says the message being presented to the local communities is to revisit the existing cultural norms that binds a community together, adding that people have realized how important these norms are especially when the country is heading to the national general elections next week.
“People have realized, especially the culture that we continue to adopt over the years. It is a culture based on respect, humility,
obedience, serving others and also providing hospitality for other people especially strangers when they come and visit us, and these are the moral values that most of our communities we continue to exist upon, whether we be in our local tradition or cultural groupings of what our culture say or whether it be the different churches that we now adopt to become what is based upon the Christian faith.”
SIBC News understands, the tour is part of current police operations to ensure people move free to and from the polls peacefully on the
election day.
