ROLE OF LOCAL CHIEFS BOOSTED

The role of local chiefs to strengthen local governance in North Malaita will be more effective from now on.

This follows the handing over of six new bicycles to the region’s Panel of Chiefs by the member of Parliament for North Malaita Constituency Hon Jimmy Lusibaea.

SIBC News stringer for North Malaita Mr Andrew Kiri reports the donated bicycles will now assist the chiefs deliver effectively.

“Chiefs have to walk long distances as far as Malu’u or even to Silolo and to Fo’ondo only to solve land-related issues as they do not have funds to travel by truck, so when the CDO and the MP supplied bicycles to them, they are very happy because it will help their travelling much easier and faster to be on time presiding over land hearings in the region.”
