The Ministry of Health and Medical Services is conducting audit investigations into the death of 17 infants who reportedly died following the diarrhoea outbreak in the country.

Chairman of the Health Emergency Operations Committee, Dr Chris Becha confirmed in a media conference today.

He says the number of deaths associated with the outbreak might change once investigations are completed.

“However, the number of deaths associated with the outbreak is provisional, pending the full death audit investigation. Please take note that the number of deaths might change once the investigation is completed.”

However, Dr Becha also announced that the ministry has recorded a total of 5,372 cases as of 17 January this year.
