The Honiara Yacht Club has donated over 14-thousand dollars to World Vision to assist with its recovery efforts following last month’s severe flash flooding.

Presenting the donation to the World Vision Country Director, Dr. Andrew Catford, during a ceremony yesterday, Club Commodore, Baoro Laxton Koraua said the Yacht Club wanted to support World Vision’s flood response efforts.

Mr Koraua described World Vision as a trustworthy organization that would ensure the club’s donation would be used wisely to best help those in need.

In response, Dr Andrew Catford thanked the Yacht Club Commodore and said World Vision is very grateful for its support.

Dr Catford also assured Mr Koraua that their donation will go towards providing families with relief items they urgently need, rebuild their homes and livelihoods to get their lives back to normal.

SIBC News understands the donation was from a fundraising the Yacht Club held last month to raise money for the flood response.
