LAND DISPUTE HINDERED MARKET DEVELOPMENT FOR MAKIRA
Makira Ulawa Provincial Premier, Thomas Weape has said the land dispute is hindering their plans to build the proposed Kirakira Market.
Mr. Weape made the clarification amid concerns raised in the media over delays in the construction of the new market building at Kirakira.
“The market house at Kirakira is a long time issue and it is not only because of the Provincial Government failing to address. In fact, it has plans to address the Kirakira market house but because it has involved land disputes between two landowning parties, which caused the delay.”
However, the Premier says the Provincial Executive has endorsed plans to improve stalls at the market for public use.
“The idea now is seeing that this land dispute will need to be sorted out, we have plans and the Executive has already made endorsements for us to continue improving and putting up more stalls at the market area as well as build small shelters over the stalls.”
