PARENTS DISCOURAGED TO TREAT DIARRHOEA WITH HERBS
The Ministry of Health and Medical Services has discouraged parents against the use of herbal medicine to treat diarrhoea in children.
Deputy Director of Health Promotions, Adrian Leamana made the call recently.
Mr Leamana also explained why it is not safe to treat diarrhoea patients with herbal treatments.
“Our key message is that traditional medicines cannot treat dehydration and as I have explained, dehydration is the lack of fluid in the body and so when you treat a chid with the traditional medicine, it won’t heal the process of dehydration in a child’s body.”
