A north Malaita man has called on Solomon Islanders to change their attitude, character and behaivour towards keeping the Honiara City clean.

A Jack Ogofura from Bita’ama told SIBC News, the reason why there is so much rubbish in Honiara City is because people have a careless attitude.

He said people should develop a positive attitude towards keeping the city clean.

Mr Ogofura says though responsible authorities may improve the physical structures in the city, it is people’s attitude that must change to keep Honiara clean.

“We asked the government to improve the physical structure, we asked the City Council to improve the town physically especially market and other areas, but if we are not changed in attitude, behaviour and character I am sorry we will never change the lifestyle that we are living in Honiara because we throw rubbish all over the place.”

Mr Ogofura echoed the comments following recent media complaints about keeping the city clean.
