The Prime Minister says he hopes Taiwan will include the fight against malaria in their cooperation with the Solomon Islands.

Prime Minister Lilo made the statement during his meeting with Taiwan’s Foreign Minister in Taiwan this week.

In their meeting, Mr. Lilo said that there are a lot more areas in the health sector that the two countries can cooperate in – one is the fight against malaria.

He said malaria remains a major problem in the Solomon Islands, and he hopes the cooperation in the health sector between the two countries can also take that into consideration.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Lilo has assured Taiwan that Solomon Islands will continue to support their endeavour for international recognition.

Taiwan was the Prime Minister’s third stop after Cuba and Palau in the Pacific.

He leaves Taipei today for Indonesia to open the country’s newest mission in Jakarta.
