Chief Henry Siota of Santa Ana, Makira Ulawa province has appealed for a registered nurse be posted at the Santa Ana Rural Health Clinic urgently.

Chief Siota says having to go without a registered nurse for the past three months means people’s health has been severely affected.

The Chief of Gupuna Village, says, the nurse who was last posted to Santa Ana Rural Health Clinic had left May this year and has never returned.

Chief Siota calls on the authorities responsible to promptly sort this urgent matter as peoples’ lives are at stake given the fact that the Santa Ana Rural Health Clinic is serving both the islands of Santa Ana and Santa Catalina.

He stresses, the islands of Santa Ana and Santa Catalina are remotely situated at the eastern tip of mainland Makira far from the Provincial Hospital at Kirakira, therefore, the people’s first line of treatment in severe cases is the Santa Ana Rural Health Clinic.
