Solomon Islands Red Cross says it will continue with its commitment to promoting its voluntary blood donation program in the country.

Blood Donor Recruitment Officer Kelton Sikala told SIBC News today voluntary blood donations is more reliable and sustainable than family blood donations.

“But as munch as we can, we want to promote and let people know that the best way forward will help us to sustain our blood supply and meet our demand for blood that we might face in our hospitals, the best way forward is voluntary blood donation.”

Meanwhile, the Blood Donor Recruitment Officer has called on members of the public to willingly donate blood to save lives in various hospitals in the country.

“Please be proud of yourself in saving someone by donating blood, it is a good thing for us to practice. In terms of awareness wise I’d like to call on the public that if you need in your community, workplace or even at the private sector level, please call us if you want us to come and make you aware.”
