SOLOMON ISLANDS NURSING ASSOCIATION TO HOST S.P.N.F 2016

The Solomon Islands Nursing Association has won the bid to host the 2016 South Pacific Nurses Forum.

The 18th South Pacific Nurses Forum (SPNF) in Nuku’alofa, Tonga unanimously agreed for Solomon Islands to host the 2016 SP Nurses Forum in Honiara.

National Head of Nursing, Mr. Michael Larui has presented a joint bid on behalf of the Solomon Islands Nurses Association, the National Nursing Administration of the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, Nursing Council of Solomon Islands and the School of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences of Solomon Islands National University at the forum.

Tonga Nurses Association moved the motion in support of Solomon Islands and seconded by Vanuatu.

No other country was nominated so a unanimous decision was made in favour of Solomon Islands as the next host in 2016.

Mr Larui was also given the honour of presenting the 2014 anniversary SPNF cake to Her Royal Highness the Princess of the Kingdom of Tonga for supporting Tonga to host this year’s meeting at the official opening ceremony.

The 10th South Pacific Chief Nurses and Midwifery Officers Alliance, SPCNMOA, Meeting ran in conjunction with the SPNF.
