POLICE SEARCHING FOR MISSING ASIAN LOGGER

Police are searching for an Asian logger who went missing during a picnic in the Shortland Islands last Friday.

The Malaysian in his 40s went missing during a picnic trip to an island near Sivilua with a couple on Friday.

Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast confirmed police have received a report and an investigation is underway.

He appealed to Shortlands people who might have helpful information to assist in police investigations.

“We’ve heard that missing person report and we’re asking that anyone who has information about that report to come forward to assist the police investigation into that matter. The person was said to have travelled with the local couple to an island near the island of Sivilua on Friday and at some stage in that day disappeared. We are yet to locate then and we’re appealing to anyone who might have knowledge about that incident to contact us on 23666.”
