DCC GOV’T INTENDS TO IMPROVE HEALTH SERVICES

Health Minister Dr. Tautai Angikimua Kaitu’u has assured Solomon Islanders, the Democratic Coalition for Change (DCC) Government intends to improve health facilities in Honiara and the provinces.

Minister Kaitu’u made the statement during yesterday’s National Health Strategic Plan 2016 to 2020 launch.

Dr. Kaitu’u outlines some of the programs the government embarks on to achieve this goal.

“We will progress with the relocation and the building of a new National Referral Hospital and provincial hospitals such as Kirakira and Kilu’ufi. The Government is also intending to bring its health legislation up-to-date and make it more effective and responsive to the current trend of global health.”

He adds this will include the review of key health legislations.

“This will include the review of the Health Service Act, legislation for mental health, legislation on Tobacco and Alcohol to control non-communicable diseases, and the legislation governing our key health professionals, the medical dental board and the nursing council the paramedical professionals.”
