SELLING OF SINGLE TOBACCO ROLLS PROHIBITED

Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) reiterates, selling of single tobacco or cigarette rolls is prohibited in all public and private places.

The Ministry made the clarification in light of the current confusion regarding the selling of single tobacco rolls in private places.

Dr. Geoff Kenilorea, Director of Non-Communicable Diseases of the  Ministry of Health and Medical Services affirms this clarification.

“What the public needs to understand is that selling of single rolls, in our Tobacco Control Act, is illegal so irrespective of where you are selling it, like whether in public or private places, selling of single rolls are illegal and not be allowed as it is against the law.”

SIBC New understands the Royal Solomon Islands Police have arrested some street vendors for illegally selling single tobacco rolls in Honiara.
