A wanted murder suspect at Duidui in the Weather Coast has surrendered over the weekend.

A police report reveals the wanted suspect decided to surrender himself to police after several negotiations amongst police, community leaders and family members of the suspect.

The suspect walked out from his hiding on the weekend and gave himself up to his community and family members who then call police for his arrest.

Police officers transported him to Honiara yesterday by helicopter and he is currently remanded in police custody awaiting to appear in the Honiara Magistrate on a later date.

The wanted suspect had evaded police arrest for more than five years.
