MAN QUESTIONED GOV’T ON RUSSELLS DEVELOPMENT
A concerned man has questioned the Government as to when it will consider allowing landowners to develop their lands in the Russel Islands, Central Islands province.
A John Maiwei from the Serev tribe said he is aware that the Government has plans to return some alienated lands to original landowners.
Mr Maiwei said, all land acquisition and processes have been completed and registered under the Serev tribe.
Mr Maiwei said, unfortunately, there are logging operations undertaken on their lands without landowners consent.
“But I would like to know when will the government give us time for development because the last government has promised us development by returning our land, not only for us here in Russell islands but the whole country.”
